Laura Elgey is an internationally acclaimed artist, originally from England. Although Laura started painting at a very early age, it wasn’t until she moved to the U.S. in the late 80’s that she had the opportunity to launch her passion for painting full-time.

Laura’s painting started with gentle watercolors heavily influenced from liv-ing in England. She has resided in New York City creating intense colorful city scenes.  Living in Bermuda inspired her to paint fun brighter whimsical paintings from the pink beaches, boats bobbing on the ocean and lush tropical flowers.  She is also influenced by the painters Dufy, Matisse and Gaugin with their vibrant use of color.

Laura’s designs have been licensed worldwide with major manufacturers on calendars, clothing, housewares, kids’ outdoor furniture, resortwear, puzzles, souvenirs and stationery.   Her originals have been exhibited in Bermuda, U.S. and England. She also hand-paints kid’s furniture and embellishes Interior walls with whimsical designs.

Laura’s latest projects are painting abstracts. “Art is spirit in color. Painting on large canvases is a spiritual release and such fun.  My soul purpose is to literally bring color and joy to the world and be true to who I am on the inside.”
